Educational Institutions

Created an operational plan to support the work of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Department of Public Welfare to promote and strengthen the implementation of a resiliency program designed to strengthen the social and emotional wellness factors in Pennsylvania schools.

Created an operational plan to support the implementation of the Keystone Exams for the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This plan addressed sponsorship and communication initiatives, as well as protocols for system and item development.

The Keystone Exams are end-of-course assessments designed to assess proficiency in the subject areas of Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Literature, English Composition, Biology, Chemistry, U.S. History, World History, and Civics and Government. The Keystone Exams are one component of Pennsylvania’s new system of high school graduation requirements. Keystone Exams will help school districts guide students toward meeting state standards.

Client:   Johnstown Innovation Lab

 

Created a Strategic and Operational Plan to promote and support the implementation of education and learning programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

Branded--The Innovation Laboratory (i-LAB). It is a public/private partnership of K-12 education, Institutes of Higher Education (IHEs), businesses, public service and philanthropic organizations designed to be the coordinative element to analyze, define, develop, incubate, publicize, market and support STEM training programs and solutions that will prepare a strong STEM workforce and solve real problems that exist in Johnstown and the surrounding communities.

Collaborated with the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) and the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to design and develop a 5-day program for early childhood executives.

Participated in the design, delivery and implementation of the National Institute for School Leadership Program for Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Mississippi school administrators.

Designed the operational plan for the Pennsylvania Inspired Leadership (PIL) initiative and provided oversight of the project since July 2005.

Designed and authored a Coaching Field Guide to be used by the National Center for Education and the Economy (NCEE) to conduct workshops for the senior leadership of school districts.

Developed a Protocol and Front-End Analysis (FEA) Tools to support the design and implementation of a school reform program on a state, district or local level for NCEE. The overall protocol, and the instruments were designed to achieve alignment and coherence with nine systems that form the foundation of the FEA Protocol. The nine systems include strategic planning, teaching and learning, personnel and professional development, infrastructure, governance, communities of practice, information systems and assessment, information systems and knowledge management and partnerships.

Client:   National Center for Educaton and the Economy

 

Conducted a front-end analysis to determine the feasibility of converting instructor-led classroom training to web-based solutions for NCEE. This analysis included surveys, focus groups, interviews, and a program review and analysis. Using the principles of Human Performance Technology, our performance consultants and subject-matter experts conducted performance, cause and gap analyses which resulted in an E-Learning Blueprint outlining the requirements and processes for reengineering NCEE’s programs of instruction.

 

School Districts

Project Type:   Operational Plan

Client:   Allentown School District

 

Assisted in the creation, development and implementation of the Allentown School District Pre-K through High School Roadmap. This involved an operational planning process to support the alignment of the strategic plan and School Board Goals with the instructional programs and school improvement initiatives that guide the Roadmap.

This plan incorporated all schools and building administrators, as well as central administration and was championed by the Superintendent. The project began with a Front End Analysis that involved interviews and focus groups to understand the school district context and identify the programs and elements that needed to be included. Six individual project plans were developed and used to guide the work of the Allentown School District administration through the implementation and changes that were to occur in 2010 and beyond.

Client:   East Penn School District

 

Conducted Alignment Audits with numerous school districts and intermediate units to assess leadership, process or employee alignment with strategic goals, department goals and core values. Designed customized interventions to provide organizational alignment and performance measures to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions. Worked with project sponsors to assist them in achieving their organizational improvement goals.

Conducted a reengineering project for a large commercial training company to provide a methodology and services capability that aligned their enterprise marketing and communications plan to differentiate their current brand and offerings in the training and development industry.
